Looking for builders and developers...

What we’ve been up to
Sapien Builder Casting Call:
We have now opened our search for builders even further! As part of looking for you and your expertise, we would like you to show off your agents or the work you’ve been doing. If you’ve built something you’re proud of, we want to hear from you as soon as possible as we're very much open to being pitched on new cool ideas of how to use agentic AI. Your feedback will be invaluable in helping us define the direction of Proof of Quality in the future.
AI on Base:
We have been named by our friends at Contango Digital as one of the most exciting AI projects building on Base! We’re incredibly proud of the love shown to us here, they even made a short video about us so please check out their post and give it some love!
Sapien Team Takeover:
“At a high level, the entire goal of Sapien PoQ is to ensure contributors — both those labeling data and uploading data — are happy. That's our number one concern.”
Today, our second Discord Team Takeover of the year had us say hello to our incredible Frontend Technical Lead James Douitsis! James went into detail on the developer experience, how Proof of Quality will fit into the data stack, the plug and play nature of it, and the need for it in the current AI landscape - check out the full transcript right here!

What else happened in AI?
The World outside of Sapien:
Meta announces Meta Compute:
Meta announced a new top level initiative called Meta Compute to build AI compute and data center infrastructure at a much larger scale. Mark Zuckerberg said Meta intends to add tens of gigawatts of capacity this decade and scale to hundreds of gigawatts or more over time. The initiative centralizes planning across data centers, networks, and supplier partnerships and elevates infrastructure as a direct competitive priority. As part of this initiative, Meta said it will invest over 600 billion dollars in U.S. infrastructure and jobs by 2028, with AI data centers a core component. Meta also announced nuclear energy deals, including 20 year agreements with Vistra to purchase more than 2.1 gigawatts from operating plants plus additional capacity from plant uprates aimed at expanding future clean baseload supply for data centers. After Meta was actively recruiting new top AI talent over the past year, they’re now expanding the infrastructure to go along with it.
Gmail integrates AI for personalised inboxes:
On January 12, 2026, Apple and Google released a joint statement announcing a multi year collaboration on artificial intelligence technology. Under the agreement, the next generation of Apple Foundation Models will be based on Google’s Gemini models and cloud technology. The companies said these models will help power future Apple Intelligence features, including a more personalized Siri planned for later in 2026. Apple and Google characterized the selection as the outcome of an evaluation process, with Apple describing Google’s AI as the most capable foundation for its needs. Apple indicated that its existing ChatGPT integration remains available alongside the Gemini based foundation model strategy. Following the announcement, Alphabet shares rose and the company briefly crossed a $4 trillion market valuation threshold during January 12, 2026 trading. Reuters reported that Alphabet also overtook Apple in market capitalization for the first time since 2019 during that move.
Personal Intelligence for the Gemini app:
Google has launched Personal Intelligence for the Gemini app as an opt-in beta that allows Gemini to use and connect information across a user’s Google apps and past chats to generate more personalized answers. Personal Intelligence is a Gemini capability that, when enabled, lets Gemini consider a user’s prompt alongside permitted personal context such as custom instructions, prior Gemini chats, and data from connected Google apps. It is designed to reduce the need for users to specify which app to search, because Gemini can “connect the dots” across sources behind the scenes and surface relevant details in a single response. Google is rolling the feature out in the United States to eligible Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers, with access rolling out over about a week. Google states it will expand to additional countries, the free tier, and Search AI Mode over time.

Keep up the good work, Sapiens! New cool things are just around the corner.
